Body Injuries
Injury Levels
Six body parts take injuries of their own: Head, Torso, Right Arm, Left Arm, Right Leg and Left Leg.
Each part has an injury value from 0 to 4, shown as a stage:
- Clear: 0
- Yellow (hurt): 1
- Red (badly hurt): 2
- Black (crippled): 3 and above
The Body Indicator
- A small player-shaped figure low on the left of the screen shows each part tinted by its stage.
- How far a part is into its stage shows as a fill rising from the bottom, and a part that has recently got worse flashes.
- It is drawn in both HUD modes, and hidden with F1 and in spectator.
- Injuries are saved with your character but cleared on death: a respawned body is whole.
- Creative players take no injuries.
How Injuries Happen
Toughness = 1 + level / 25. That is 1 for a novice and 5 at level 100, so higher-level shinobi are much harder to injure. Injuries are worked out from the hit's size before the mod's x5 damage scale (see Health and Damage Scale).
- Falls: both legs gain damage / (30 x toughness).
- Jutsu, explosions and fire: the whole body takes it at once. The torso gains damage / (80 x toughness), up to a maximum of 0.45, and every other part gains 65% of that. Fire that isn't from a jutsu counts x0.3. A lingering burn or poison with no attacker (black flames, acid and so on) counts x0.15.
- Weapons and blows (melee or thrown): one part is hit, found from where the hit came in (height on the body and which side). It gains damage / (24 x toughness), times 0.45 for thrown weapons or 0.35 for melee.
- A blow to the head deals 1.5x damage and injures 1.2x as much.
- Repeated hits on the same part are what take it from hurt to crippled.
Effects of Injuries
- A red or black leg (either one): no sprinting (and so no Ninja Run), and a limp of -22% movement speed.
- Both legs crippled: -40% movement speed, and no jumping, no double jump, no Ninja Dash and no Tree Leap.
- One crippled arm: hand signs take 1.8x as long.
- Both arms crippled: hand signs take 4x as long.
- Crippled head: every so often you suffer a spell of Nausea or Blindness for 5 to 20 seconds. The first comes 10 to 40 seconds after the injury, then 30 to 90 seconds pass before the next.
