What Happens When a Nature Awakens

When a nature is awakened (by DNA injection, as your free first nature at level 10, or by a bloodline awakening):

Its tree's root node is learned for free.
Its bound release item is put in your inventory (or at your feet if it's full).
Its advancement is granted.
A burst of particles in the nature's colour, a beacon and amethyst sound, and a title card ("<Nature>" / "Awakened").

DNA is refused if:

The DNA has no nature yet: "Identify this DNA on the DNA page of the Shinobi Record first."
The nature's tree is coming in a future update, so it can't be awakened yet.
You already have it: "You have already awakened <X>."

Any nature's DNA, including another clan's bloodline (and your own clan's bloodline before it has awakened), can be injected into anyone.

Nature DNA exists for every nature with DNA (basic, spirit, every kekkei genkai and hidden release). Stack size 16; Rare rarity for basic natures, Epic for the rest. The tooltip shows its kind (Spiritual nature / Kekkei genkai / Kekkei tota) and "Injection: X ryo".
DNA can't be drunk: using it says "Only a Ninja Scientist can inject this DNA."
Eye DNA: Sharingan DNA and Byakugan DNA (Epic). "Have a Ninja Scientist inject it to awaken this eye, whatever your clan." Injection price 22,500 ryo, the dearest of all. Injection learns the eye tree's first node (Sharingan / Byakugan) for anyone of any clan; the rest of the tree is learned normally. Title: "<Eye> awakened" / "The eye opens". The clan's own members still awaken theirs near death through their bloodline.
Unidentified DNA: stack 16, Uncommon. "Its nature is unknown. Identify it on the DNA page of the Shinobi Record." It can't be injected until identified.

The hub's DNA page has a badge with your Unidentified DNA count. Each attempt uses one sample, and plays a 1.4 s analysis.
Success: an attempt can succeed or fail. Intelligence raises the chance of success, up to a cap that is reached at Intelligence 28; past that, more Intelligence doesn't help identification.
On success the sample becomes one nature's DNA; on failure the sample breaks down and is lost (glass-break sound).
What it becomes: the five basic natures are by far the most common results. The spirit natures, the kekkei genkai, the kekkei tota and the hidden releases are all much rarer.
Yin-Yang DNA can be identified, but it can't be injected until Yin-Yang Release arrives in a future update.
The page also lists every nature with DNA as Awakened, Held (vial in inventory) or Locked, with a tally "X / Y".

On reaching level 10, two things happen: your clan is rolled and revealed, and one of the five basic natures, picked at random, awakens in you at once, just as if you had been injected with its DNA. There is nothing to drink and no scientist needed.
Its tree's root is learned, its advancement is granted, and its release item goes straight into your inventory (or waits at your feet if your inventory is full). A message names the nature you were given.
Catch-up: anyone already at level 10 or above who has no basic nature awakened is given one when they join or respawn.
Your natural nature: your first basic nature (normally the one given at level 10) is recorded as your natural nature. Natures you awaken later from DNA are never your natural nature.

The Nature Release map's "Reroll Natural Nature" button (click twice to confirm) spends one Natural Nature Release Reroll Token.
Your natural nature is taken away with its whole tree (every JP it cost comes back), its release item and its advancement.
One of the basic natures you don't have takes its place at random. A wheel of the other natures spins and lands on it, and only then is it awakened (root, release item, advancement) and made your new natural nature.
It needs a natural nature (so level 10 or later) and at least one basic nature you don't have yet. Natures you got from DNA are never touched.
