The Jutsu Page
Open the hub with J and go to the Jutsu page. Its badge shows your unspent JP.
Tabs
The page has one tab per top-level skill tree, in this order:
- Nature Release: a map of the 5 basic natures plus Yin, Yang and Yin-Yang (Yin-Yang is coming in a future update).
- Kekkei Genkai: a map of the 5 basic natures plus every kekkei genkai and kekkei tota (and Yin).
- Dojutsu: a map of the eyes: Sharingan, Byakugan, Rinnegan (coming in a future update) and the five Mangekyo.
- Hidden: a map of the hidden clan arts ("hiden").
- Ninjutsu
- Taijutsu
- Genjutsu
- Kenjutsu
- Medical
- Senjutsu (coming in a future update: shown greyed for now)
- Curse Mark
- Summoning
- Tailed Beasts: a map of the nine tailed-beast trees.
Trees that belong to a map (for example Fire Release, which sits on the Nature Release map) have no tab of their own: you open them by clicking their entry on the map. Inside a nested tree, a Back button ("< Nature Release" and so on), right click or Backspace returns you to the map.
Maps
Map tabs (Nature Release, Kekkei Genkai, Dojutsu, Hidden, Tailed Beasts) draw each linked tree as its root node. Major entries (the five basic natures, Yin, Yang, the Sharingan, Byakugan and Rinnegan, the hidden arts, the beasts) are drawn large.
- Nature Release draws the classic "strength circle" as arrows: Fire is strong against Wind, Wind against Lightning, Lightning against Earth, Earth against Water, Water against Fire. Pointing at a nature shows "Strong against X" and "Weak to Y". This circle is a guide to the natures' lore: in combat, natures interact through the status combinations described on the Jutsu Damage and Nature Combinations page.
- Combination entries are drawn linked to the natures they combine and name them in their details, for example Ice Release = Wind + Water. These links describe the bloodline: awakening a kekkei genkai does not require owning its component natures.
- Map entry status lines: "Awakened", "Can be awakened now", "Not yet: see what it needs", "Locked: awaken the natures it combines first".
- Trees that are coming in a future update are drawn greyed and can't be opened yet.
- The Nature Release map also shows your natural nature and a "Reroll Natural Nature" button (click twice to confirm), which spends a Natural Nature Release Reroll Token.
Node States
Every node is a hexagonal seal:
- Learned: filled with the jutsu's colour, glowing, with a double rim.
- Available: every requirement met; a pulsing outline. A nature root counts as available while its DNA is in your inventory.
- Reachable: prerequisites learned, but something else (level, stat, item, JP) is missing; drawn plain.
- Locked: a prerequisite isn't learned; drawn dark with a padlock.
Links are solid in the jutsu's colour once the child is learned, dotted otherwise. You can drag and zoom the view (0.22x to 1.6x).
Selecting a node shows its details panel: name, rank line ("C-rank - Fire", or the category when it has no nature), Tier (colour-coded: Basic grey, Intermediate green, Advanced blue, Expert purple, Master orange, Ultimate red), Chakra cost, Cooldown (with "s left" while cooling down), "Max damage" (for nature-release jutsu: the most one cast can do to one target at full charge and full mastery, from the damage budget), Hand signs, then a "Requires" list with each requirement ticked or not, and two buttons: Learn (whose label becomes the first missing thing, for example "Needs level 20") and Practise.
Node Requirements
A node can require any of these:
- Cost: JP spent when learned (default 1).
- Level: minimum character level (default 1).
- Stats: minimum stat values (allocated plus clan bonus), for example "Ninjutsu 15".
- Prerequisites: other nodes that must be learned first, in the same tree or in another tree. For example, the Rinnegan requires both the Sharingan and Wood Release roots, and Onyx Chidori requires the Lightning tree's Chidori.
- Items: items taken from your inventory when you learn the node (shown as "<item> x<n> (used up)"). Nature roots list their DNA here; the summons list their summoning contract.
- Clan: only members of that clan may learn it (shown as "<Clan> clan").
On learning, the items are consumed and the JP are spent.
Why a Node Can or Can't Be Learned
These are checked in order, and the first one that applies is shown:
- Already learned: you have it.
- "Awakens when a squadmate dies near your three-tomoe Sharingan": a Mangekyo Sharingan itself. A Mangekyo can't be learned from the menu: it awakens through grief (see The Mangekyo Sharingan), or an implanted Mangekyo eye brings it with it. The techniques after it are learned normally.
- "Awakens in battle" / "Needs its DNA": the first node of a clan's bloodline tree. Members of that clan see "Awakens in battle" (requirement line "Awakens near death in battle (Lv 25+)"); anyone else, when the node is clan-locked, sees "Needs its DNA" ("Have its DNA injected to awaken it").
- Needs DNA: a nature root is never learned from the menu. It awakens only by DNA injection, as your free first nature at level 10, or through your clan's bloodline.
- Needs a contract: the Summoning tree's own root ("Summoning Release") awakens by itself the first time you learn any summon.
- Implanted eye: an eye tree's node, when you have that eye only through an implant and the node did not come with the implant. The implant's techniques are all you get.
- "Learn the one before": a prerequisite is missing.
- "Not your clan": the node is locked to another clan. Also shown for a tailed-beast tree when you are not that beast's jinchuriki ("A tailed beast's tree is for its jinchuriki alone").
- "Needs level N"
- "Needs <value> <stat>"
- "Needs items"
- "Needs N Jutsu Points"
- Otherwise, the node is learnable.
Special effects of learning:
- Learning any summon in the Summoning tree for the first time also learns "Summoning Release", grants the Summoning advancement, gives the bound Summoning release item and shows "Summoning awakened: the Summoning release is yours".
- Learning the Eight Gates node puts an "Eight Gates" item in your inventory (dropped at your feet if it's full), as the natures' releases do.
The Hidden Tab
"Hidden" ("Secret techniques handed down within the clans and by their masters") is a map tab whose eight major entries open the clan arts: Yamanaka Clan (Mind Transfer), Aburame Clan (Bug Release), Uzumaki Sealing (Sealing Release), Paper Release, Ink Release, Inuzuka Clan, Nara Clan (Shadow Release) and Kaguya Clan (Shikotsumyaku). Each has its own page further on.
Equipping the Loadout
A learned jutsu's details panel shows "Equip to a jutsu slot" and six slot buttons ("Slot N: empty" / "Slot N: <jutsu>"). Clicking the slot it's already in takes it out ("Equipped in slot N"). Only learned jutsu can be equipped. There are 6 loadout slots.
Practising Hand Signs
The Practise button plays a learned jutsu's hand signs on your character (visible to others), closes the menu, and remembers the jutsu for the "Practise Signs" key, which replays it later. Practice is purely for show and costs nothing; jutsu without signs can't be practised.
