Summons and Riding Giants
Every rideable giant (great summons, tailed beasts, technique summons and mission beasts) shares the same creature rules.
Health
- Great summons have ten times their listed health (the values below are in game).
- Tailed beasts use their own formula (see "Tailed Beasts").
- Ink Release beasts have only 25 health: they are only paint.
The Great Summons
- Gamabunta: 14 x 20, 4,000 health, attack 18.
- Manda: 10 x 16, 3,800 health, attack 20.
- Katsuyu: 10 x 15, 4,200 health, attack 10.
- Ibuse: 9 x 6.5, 3,600 health, attack 16.
- Monkey King Enma: 1 x 3, 3,800 health, attack 22.
Technique Summons
The ink lion, ink snake and ink bird, Akamaru, the two-headed wolf (Sotoro), the C2 clay dragon, Sasuke's hawk, and the elephant (Baku). The summon snake and Yamata (the Eight Branches serpent, 6,000 health) belong to Snake Sage Mode, which is coming in a future update.
Shared Attributes
- Armour 10 and full knockback resistance.
- Follow range 48 + 2 x width.
- Step height of 2.5 blocks or 30% of height, whichever is greater.
- Safe fall distance of 40 blocks or 2 x height, whichever is greater.
- Giants path straight toward their goal and step over hills, rocks and trees rather than threading normal paths.
Behaviour
- The owner and rider can't hurt their creature.
- It follows its owner when more than 14 + width blocks away, teleporting to them past 48 + 2 x width blocks.
- It attacks whatever attacked its owner or whatever its owner attacked, and attacks nearby monsters.
- Now and then its own blows become a tail lash or a slam instead of a bite.
Dismissing
- Technique summons can be sent back by their owner by sneaking and right-clicking them with an empty hand (not Yamata, and not transformations), in a puff of smoke (ink for the ink beasts).
- Summons called for a set time vanish in smoke when their time is up.
- Contract summons (Summoning Release) go back the moment their rider gets off (sneak).
Summoning Contracts
- The Summoning tree: Summoning Release (awakened by signing your first contract), Hawk Summoning (level 10, 600 chakra, 20 second cooldown), Manda, Gamabunta, Katsuyu and Elephant Summoning (level 30, 1,200 chakra, 30 second cooldown), and Ibuse Summoning (level 25, 1,000 chakra, 30 second cooldown).
- Each is learned by signing its Summoning Contract item.
- Make the hand signs, then charge all the way; the summon appears in a huge puff of smoke with the summoner already on it.
Riding
- You sit at the creature's seat, usually on its head.
- Big creatures turn ponderously toward where you look (180 degrees a second).
- Forward is full speed, backwards 35%, strafing 40%; sprinting multiplies speed by 1.35.
- Jump bar: a leap forward, higher for bigger creatures. Landing from more than 3 blocks shakes the ground: a slam of radius 2 + 0.4 x fall distance (up to 6 extra) for 40% of attack damage.
- Use key held: the Tailed Beast Bomb on tailed beasts (see "Tailed Beast Techniques and the Full Beast"); the elephant inhales.
- While riding a giant, the third-person camera pulls back to take it all in.
The Ridden Combo
The creature attacks instead of your hand, in a combo:
- Signature blow, twice: hits everything in a box in front.
- Tail lash: hits everything beside and behind, in a ring of reach 1.3 x width + 0.6 x tails, for attack x (0.8 + 0.05 x tails), thrown wide.
- Slam: hits everything round its feet on the ground, radius 1.2 x width, for attack x 1.3, with debris and an explosion.
- Each lands on its animation's impact moment (0.4, 0.6 and 0.75 seconds).
- Cooldown 1.1 seconds (1.5 seconds after a lash or slam). A pause longer than 2 seconds restarts the combo.
- The two-headed wolf and the elephant do three blows and then the slam.
Flying Summons
- The ink bird, the C2 clay dragon, Sasuke's hawk, and the missions' flying beasts all fly.
- Ridden, they go where you look: forward to fly, look up to climb, down to dive (the hawk fast, x1.7; the others x1.1). No fall damage.
- Alone, a flier circles over its owner (5 blocks round, 5.5 blocks up) and dives on whatever it's fighting: a pass, then it climbs away, with 1.25 seconds between dives. The C2 dragon keeps to the air and spits missiles instead of diving. A wild flier circles its roost.
- Mission sea beasts swim, holding their depth and driving at their target.
Wild Beasts
- A wild beast (spawned by missions and trials) belongs to no one, can never be bonded, and is hostile on sight to every non-creative player.
- Wild beasts use special abilities: poisoned, venomous, paralysing, burning or freezing blows; charges; stamps; webs; shrieks; calling up their brood; and jutsu cast the way an NPC casts them.
Creature Damage Multipliers
On top of the x5 scale:
- Wild tailed beast: x0.6.
- Other wild beasts: x1.2.
- Owned summon: x1.6.
- Owned tailed beast: x2.0.
- A jinchuriki's transformation: x2.5.
