Ranks and Promotion

The Rank Ladder

The ranks, in order:

  • Academy Student
  • Genin
  • Chunin
  • Jonin
  • Elite Jonin

The village offices (Village Advisor and Kage) and the Rogue Ninja status belong to the village system, not to this rank ladder.

Rank never comes from level alone.

Academy Student

Every new shinobi starts as an Academy Student.

Genin

Genin is earned by passing the Genin Exam:

  • The exam is held automatically at the top of every real-time hour for Academy Students of level 10 or higher.
  • Five minutes before, a chat message with a clickable [Sign up] appears. You can also use /kageborne exam join, and /kageborne exam leave to drop out.
  • Part one: a written test of 8 questions, answered by clicking in chat. You need 5 correct to pass.
  • Part two: a survival round against 3 waves of outlaws in an arena.
  • Part three: the finals, one-on-one bouts won by a knockout or by having the most health left after 90 seconds.
  • A blow that would kill you during the exam only knocks you out and sends you to the stands.
  • Everyone who reaches the finals passes and becomes a Genin, receiving 2,500 Missions XP and 2,000 ryo. The overall champion receives another 2,000 Missions XP and 3,000 ryo.

Full details are on the Genin Exam page.

Chunin, Jonin and Elite Jonin

These ranks are given by server staff rather than earned automatically.

What Rank Does

  • Rank gates missions: Genin missions need Genin, Chunin missions need Chunin, and so on.
  • Your rank is shown on the Village page as part of your standing.
