Held Hand Techniques
Chidori, Rasengan and Rasenshuriken form in the right hand and are held until used.
The Techniques
- Chidori (Lightning Release; level 24, 3 points, Ninjutsu 8; rank B, 730 chakra, 10.8 second cooldown, 4 hand signs): a white-hot knot of blue lightning spitting arcs, crawling up the arm and lashing the ground, with the sound of a thousand birds.
- Lightning Cutter (level 47, 5 points, Ninjutsu 15; rank A, 920 chakra, 27.8 second cooldown, 6 hand signs): the same, with a blade of lightning reaching from the hand.
- Onyx Chidori: from the Curse Mark tree (see "The Curse Mark").
- Rasengan (Wind Release; level 20, 3 points, Ninjutsu 8; rank B, 600 chakra, 9.1 second cooldown, 3 hand signs): a ball of wind with a blazing heart and bright streamlines racing round it.
- Rasenshuriken (Wind Release; level 78, 10 points, Ninjutsu 35; rank S, 5,000 chakra, 108 second cooldown, 8 hand signs): a Rasengan core with four great crescent blades of wind spinning so fast they blur, with a screaming whine.
- Sage Art versions (Odama Rasengan, Giant Rasengan and Sage Art: Rasenshuriken) arrive with Sage Mode in a future update.
Holding and Striking
- When cast, the technique forms in the hand with a startup sound, and its held sound loops for everyone nearby. You hold a matching pose.
- It can be held for up to 60 seconds; after that it comes apart in the hand.
- Attack (left click) while holding: you lunge along your look for up to 0.45 seconds (lunge speed: Chidori 2.3, Lightning Cutter 2.6, Rasengan 1.9, Rasenshuriken 1.6) and strike the first thing within 1.6 blocks in front. Strikes happen at most once a second.
Chidori Family
- Lightning damage (old scale): Chidori 11.5, Onyx Chidori 12.5, Lightning Cutter 13; about 75-85 health once the x5 scale and ninjutsu are applied.
- Paralysis: Chidori 3 seconds, Onyx Chidori 4 seconds, Lightning Cutter 5 seconds (2 seconds on players).
- A thunder sound and a lightning burst.
Rasengan
The sphere grinds into the target for 0.4 seconds (bound, 0.72 wind damage ten times a second), then blasts them away spinning: 8.6 wind damage, a strong push and a wind explosion.
Rasenshuriken
- Right click throws it (the cooldown starts on the throw). It flies for up to 5.45 seconds, gently homing on a target within 40 blocks, and bursts into the High-Frequency Dome where it hits.
- Or attack to drive it straight into a target, bursting the dome right on them.
- High-Frequency Dome: a sphere of countless microscopic wind blades swells to radius 7 and holds (lasting longer with more charge). It holds for 7 seconds. Ten times a second, everything inside takes 8 wind damage (ignoring invulnerability frames), is dragged toward the centre and is paralysed for 1 second. It ends in a wind explosion that throws everything inside outward.
- It is one of the mod's top releases, with a damage-budget ceiling of 175.
Clashes
If two players holding hand techniques strike each other within 0.7 seconds of one another, the techniques grind together for 1.1 seconds (both held still, with sparks and wind), then explode. Both lose their techniques, are thrown apart, and each takes 6 force damage.
