Ryo, Tax and Village Resources
Ryo
Ryo is Kageborne's currency. It is stored on your character rather than carried as an item, and is shown on the Village page ("<n> ryo"), in the medic and lab windows and in the trade window.
Ways to earn ryo:
- Missions: PvE missions pay Genin 500, Chunin 1,500 and Jonin 4,000; PvP bounty hunts pay 800 / 2,500 / 6,000 / 9,000. Mission pay goes through the village tax.
- The Genin Exam: 300 ryo for passing the written test (reaching the survival phase), 2,000 ryo for passing through to the finals (becoming Genin), and 3,000 ryo for winning the exam. Each of these is paid only once per player, ever: retaking the exam pays nothing again for a stage you have already been paid for.
- Trials: each trial's own ryo reward, plus trial reward chests, which often hold an extra 2,500 ryo (and always do if nothing else came up).
- Trading with other players (
/kageborne trade lets you put ryo up alongside items).
Ways to spend ryo: the Medical Ninja (healing, curing, supplies), the Ramen Guy (food), the Ninja Scientist (DNA injection), trial entry fees and trades. The pity traders take pity tokens, not ryo.
Village Tax
When a village member completes a mission, the reward is split between the player and the village:
- Tax = reward x tax rate / 100, rounded. You receive the reward minus the tax, and the village's Resources gain the tax.
- Tax rate = 30 minus the village's recent missions (rounded), kept between 5% and 30%.
- Every mission completed by any member adds 1 to the village's recent missions. Every 5 minutes that number is multiplied by 0.98, so it fades by about 2% every 5 minutes.
- A quiet village taxes 30%; a busy one taxes less, down to a minimum of 5%. For example, 10 recent missions means a 20% tax.
- The Village page shows the current tax rate and the village's Resources (the total tax collected).
- Rogue players keep 100% of any mission ryo.
