Trial Reward Chests
Where They Appear
One Trial Reward Chest appears for each party member still in the trial at the moment of victory. The chests are set round where the boss stood, 2 to 7 blocks away, on solid ground (a step up or down allowed), never right next to another chest, each turned to face the way the party came in. A golden glow bursts where each one appears.
The Chest
- Unbreakable, drops nothing, light level 5, wooden sounds, can't be pushed, and slightly smaller than a full block.
- A lacquered red chest banded in gold with a paper seal across its lock. While it waits, its lid rattles faintly and its owner's name hangs over it in warm white: "<player name>'s Reward".
- Reward chests only come from a trial victory, and what's inside is decided the moment it appears.
Owner Only
Only the player a chest was made for can open it. Anyone else who right-clicks it gets "This reward belongs to <name>." in red on the action bar. Each chest can be opened only once.
The Opening
- A chest-open sound and an amethyst resonance play.
- The lid springs open over 0.7 seconds with a springy overshoot. The paper seal burns off in flame particles in the first moments (the lock disappears after 0.2 seconds), then white end-rod sparks rise for the rest of the reveal.
- The lid and the inside light up full-bright.
- A beacon-style beam in the reward's rarity colour rises out of the chest, growing from 1 to 8 blocks tall over the first second.
- The best (rarest) reward item floats up out of the chest, spinning, rising about 0.85 blocks and growing as it goes.
- After 1.5 seconds the rewards are given:
- Every item goes into your inventory (dropped at your feet if it is full), and every reward, including the ryo, gets its own chat line: "Your reward: <item name> (<Rarity in bold>)". Ryo shows as "<n> Ryo".
- Ryo is credited straight to your ryo.
- A title shows the best reward's name, with its rarity as the subtitle, plus "(+<n> more)" if there were several.
- A glow bursts in the rarity's colour, with the challenge-complete jingle for Epic or Legendary rewards and the level-up chime otherwise.
- The nameplate moves up and shows the rarity under the owner's name.
The Loot
Each reward is rolled separately, so a chest can hold several. Everything a chest can hold:
- Ryo: 2,500 ryo (Common, white), on top of the trial's own 5,000. If nothing else came up, the chest always holds the ryo, so a chest is never empty (except in the Trial of the Eight Gates, below).
- A chakra fragment of a random basic nature (Fire, Wind, Water, Lightning or Earth Chakra Fragment) (Uncommon, green). One of the more common finds.
- A random basic nature's DNA (Fire, Wind, Water, Lightning or Earth Release DNA) (Epic, purple).
- The trial's pity token (Rare, aqua). Every trial has one except the Rinnegan's and the Nine-Tails'.
- The boss's own DNA (Legendary, gold). Only in trials whose boss has DNA, and rarely.
- Boss tokens, each rolled on its own and each found only now and then: a Skill Tree Reset Token (Epic), a Natural Nature Release Reroll Token (Epic) and, rarest of the three, a Clan Reroll Token (Legendary). Every trial can give them.
- A piece of armor from the shared pool (every trial): any piece of any armor set, of Common, Uncommon, Rare or Epic rarity. Harder (higher-level) trials give armor more often and of better rarity: the level-25 trials lean to Common and Uncommon pieces, the level-35 themed trials sit in between, and the level-40 great trials lean to Rare and Epic. Armor's max health adds on top of the Medical stat's 500 health cap, so it stacks past it.
The Trial of the Eight Gates is the one exception: its chest can hold only Might Guy's Approval, and Guy gives it rarely. When he doesn't, no chest appears at all (see the Trial of the Eight Gates).
- One of the trial's own legendary armor pieces (Legendary, gold). Themed trials only, and rarely.
Rarity colours: Common white, Uncommon green, Rare aqua, Epic purple, Legendary gold. The item that floats up and the title show the single rarest reward.
