Eye Extraction and Eye Jars

The Scalpel

"Use on a badly wounded shinobi (20% health or less) to extract an eye. Sneak and use to extract your own. Breaks after one attempt." Stack size 1. Scalpels come from the Trial of the Medical Corps' reward chest now and then, and they can be traded.

  • Only a dojutsu can be taken (Sharingan, Mangekyo, Byakugan or Rinnegan, native or implanted), never a plain eye. Each eye socket is judged separately.
  • On another player at 20% health or less, both of you play a timing duel:
    • Each round a key (W, A, S or D) is shown and a ring closes on it. Pressing it as the ring meets the circle counts; a narrow "perfect" window counts more.
    • The thief's hits drive the extraction up (+22, or +30 perfect); the victim's hits knock it back (-13, or -18 perfect); a thief's miss costs 4.
    • Up to 10 rounds.
    • If the extraction fills, the thief has 5 seconds to pick the left or right eye (or the scalpel is wasted), and the eye comes out into a jar. The victim is left with an empty socket.
    • If the rounds run out, the victim has fought it off, and their eyes are safe from theft for an hour.
    • The scalpel breaks either way.
  • On yourself (sneak + use): the same duel alone against time (8 rounds; +25, or +34 perfect; -10 on a miss).

Eye Jars

  • Sharingan Jar, Byakugan Jar and Rinnegan Jar (Epic), plus a plain Eye Jar. A filled jar is named "<owner>'s <eye>" in red, and remembers which side (left or right) it came from and the eye's learned nodes.
  • Using a jar: if you have an empty socket on the matching side, an implant minigame opens, done by hand.
    • Success: the eye is implanted in that socket, its technique (and the nodes it carries) is learned, you are blinded for 3 seconds, and you get an empty glass bottle back.
    • A slip, or giving up, hurts you (3 damage) and blinds you for 1.5 seconds.
  • With no free socket: you first pick one of your own eyes to take out (the same solo duel, no scalpel needed). It comes out into a jar of its own (a plain eye goes into a plain Eye Jar), freeing the socket.
  • Jars only come from extraction.
